Dolls aren’t for Boys …… are they?

Saturday, June 12, 2010

Don’t think boys love dolls? Anyone who saw the photos from our last drive know they do! But even with our Western take on who should and shouldn’t be playing with dolls I find more and more US sites catering to dolls for our little boys, Horay!

Daddy Dolls and Hug a Hero have a brilliant idea. They make pillow style dolls with the photo of your Daddy on them to help ease the stress of separation for the child via deployment, business trip etc.

If anyone’s played around with iron on transfer paper this project is for you! Very simple and quick …. And you don’t have to be big on sewing!!

Hi Sarah,
I just found this page on your fantastic blog and wanted you to know that I say YES! I was blessed with three boys and one of their favourite toys as young children was their Charlie Clown - three of course!
They were hung from ropes dangling down the stairs from the attic to the bottom, thrown around and caught again, told stories to, in fact saw LOTS of action ..... and are still around today!
They all also all had an Action Man - who certainly lived up to his name,
I taught the boys how to make long ropes from French knitting these were part of their mountaineering equipment. It is true to say that these Action Men often had nail polish blood or toilet paper casts due to their many great adventures!
It is all about IMAGINATION.
I have had a lovely time making Betina and Alfredo for your Dolly drive and they will be on their way by Monday .... if there is a seat on the plane! (It is all about IMAGINATION isn't it!)
Blessings to you
Val .... Oxfordshire UK

My kids both have one of these dolls and they are such a HUGE comfort to them when their Daddy is gone. They sleep with them every night. Thank you for letting more people know about them. And thank you for your dedication to children all over the world.
