New Baby Product Review: A Sound Machine and a Hook on High Chair

Monday, January 31, 2011

As you all know by now, number two will be with us soon. So I decided to be a bit more practical in my product review choices this time, and review the HOMEDICS - Sound Spa Portable and the Chicco - Caddy Red Hook-On High Chair.

We were lucky enough to try out my sisters-in-laws Chicco Hook-On High Chair and couldn’t get over how much of a space saver it was. So we put that on the 'must get' list for no.2.  As you can see my little girl loves it!! She of course will be in a booster seat by the time the little man needs it, but it will be fabulous to have all 4 of us around the table at once. It’s sturdy, washable and can fold up flat for traveling. It also has a 3-point harness for the wiggly ones in the family with a weight limit of up to 37lb (6 – 36 months).

We have had the HOMEDICS - Sound Spa since day one in the nursery. The waterfall setting or rain setting are the best in my book. Baby will be asleep before you know it … and possibly Mummy and Daddy too! Our little girl still loves hers, and uses it for her naps to drown out our 3 little doggies and at night, so we knew we needed another one. It has a timer, 10, 15, 20 or all night, and can be plugged into the wall or battery operated. I know our little chap will love his as much as his sister!

I am so glad i was able to find them at CSN stores, but really i shouldn't be surprised, they seem to have everything!

I Love Doing Toy Reviews

My toy kitchen review

I am thrilled to have been asked to do another review for CSN stores. It’s been such a pleasure to browse through there many items and online stores. I’m rather in need of a sprinkling of some modern furniture in the house but that will have to wait. What with baby number two on the way (I'm so excited!!) I really need to start focusing on the new nursery, or perhaps something a bit more practical! I can’t wait to see what I can find!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone, and Happy Sewing!

Toy Reviews: Melissa and Doug Cook's Corner Wooden Kitchen

A big sorry for not getting my Kids Wooden Kitchen review out before Christmas but i got struck down with the dreaded flu!!!

Looking for a kid’s kitchen isn't easy. I wanted something sturdy that would last a long time (preferably through 2/3 kids plus their friends), not take up too much room and be gender neutral but still lovely and bright. Melissa and Doug Cook's Corner Wooden Kitchen  fit the bill ... although it took my hubby and his father 2 hours to get it together Christmas Eve ..... I know it is going to last and last!

And the best thing of all, my daughter absolutely loved it ….. still loves it! And I can see her loving it for many more years to come!

Toy Review: Tidy up with a Toy Box!

Thursday, August 26, 2010

We all love watching our little ones play but what to do with all those toys after the fun is finished ….. do you reclaim your common area by hiding them away in a tasteful chest or de-clutter their bedrooms with a toy box?

Sitting at my kitchen tables searching through CSN Stores I found this oh so classy cupboard (above) and thought what a brilliant idea! No one would guess it would be stuffed with toys and books!

But then I saw these fabulously fun  toy chests and thought about how cute they would look in my daughters room ….. Ahhh choices choices!

I’d love some advice, how do you tidy your kiddie winks toys away?

Another Product Review - Children’s Activity Table

Thursday, July 22, 2010

I was surprised and rather chuffed that CSN stores has contacting me to do another product review for them. And this time it’s an activity table for children to craft on! So off I headed to look through their huge Children’s store section and of course on the way I found some gorgeous table lamps for me instead!
What can I say, I like crazy odd artsy things that have a function as well!! hahaha

So I am thinking of something durable, that I can take inside and out. As I live in AZ we spend most of the year outside, and I have to say, anything wood just isn’t going to cut it …. And then I found this ….

Yup, this is a lot more interesting than the first one I saw above, and it doubles as an easel! Perfect for my budding little artist ……. But is all that stepping over the bench seat really that practical …….

Oowwww I don’t know which one I’ll end up reviewing!!! I need your input! Which one do you think will be more practical in the long run?!

Doll House Toy Review!

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

As you know I was asked to do a toy review from csn stores. And what better toy than a doll house!

This is a Melissa and Doug Fold & Go Traveling Dolls House. The thing I love about this doll house is that it is handmade beautifully out of wood here in the US. I love handmade toys for children; I can almost feel how much love and attention was poured into them by their creator. The house is larger than I thought and very sweet, pretty and pink with such a cute roof but I thought it a shame that the inside wasn’t panted also.

The wooden furniture is all well constructed. I did find it odd that only some had details added – the taps are present on the sink but not on the tub …… the TV has all the bells and whistles added but the stove is void of any detail at all! Perhaps I am just being picky but I’m all about consistency in the details …..

The dolls themselves didn’t appeal to me (for ages 3+). I thought it a shame there were only 2. I would have preferred simple peg dolls, and at least a family of 3, that extra 1 doll to represent a little baba would have been perfect!

As you can see my daughter really wanted to get in it herself!!

One of the most appealing aspects of this doll house to me as a parent was that it was a ‘travel doll house’. How wonderful, I would have loved to have been able to take my doll house everywhere as a child. So I just loved the fact it has a handle! It makes it very easy to move from room to room, but don’t expect your child to do it. It’s pretty heavy. And due to their not being a latch there is no way of keeping the wooden furniture inside unless you have both handles shut at all times ….. so if this baby’s going in the car, put it in a box first! Personally I think that this defeats its purpose of being a travel doll house.

All in all I think it is a very sweet doll house that is well constructed and I’d like to thank CSN stores for giving me the opportunity to review one of their fabulous toys!

Toy Review and Perhaps a Giveaway or Two?!

Saturday, June 19, 2010

So anyone guess what I will be reviewing?

No it’s not your kids bedroom lighting,  although this toadstool lamp is cute! Or how about something from the toy department, a dolly car? Nope ….. although she’s sweet!  Or perhaps it’s an eco friendly mini town …… I wish! How super fun is that!!! Don’t you just love the solar panels! ....... Or a perhaps a dolly ballerina puppet? Ahhh this one takes me back to my childhood …. Nope, but you’re getting warmer!

It should arrive next week, and I’m excited!!

On another note, would anyone be interested in a giveaway? I'm thinking of hosting a competition!? 1st place and 2nd place prizes!!!! And both will be handmade, one-of-a-kind prezzies from me ….. ooowwww exciting!!! What do you all think? I need feedback!!
