Rwanda Doll Drive Distribution Photos

Thursday, September 13, 2012

More than 109 dolls were hand made and collected for the children of Rwanda! How amazing! Laura was kind enough to send me these beautiful photos of the Doll Drive distribution that happened last month.

"No one has ever made dolls for this group of children before so this was such a great surprise for the kids."

"The team had a wonderful trip. .... Several team members have comments how special it was to hand out the dolls and how much the children loved them. Thank you for making this possible. " Laura

Laura said they were lucky enough to be sent extra dolls that missed the deadline .. but that no one should worry.  They make the trip out regularly to Rwanda and will be distributed on their next visit!

Thank you for everyone who took part in this doll drive! Seeing the children with their very own dollies is magical  thanks Laura and the Africa New Life staff for everything! Take care and very happy sewing, Sarah xxx

Dolls for Little Girls in India

Tuesday, September 4, 2012

These are the lovely little girls of Ashraya Daughters an orphanage in Tamil Nadu, South India with dolls made using my Easy Girl Doll Sewing Pattern by the fabulous ladies of the Berean class of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Fort Worth.

"What fun we had making and sending them; how fine it is to see them in the arms of those we intended them for. Through my church I learned of an orphanage in southern India that takes in rejected girl babies and raises them.  ..... These precious little girls stole my heart and last year I (was) determined to give them dolls I had (hand) made use(ing) your pattern. ........ I was told when they opened the box they were delighted with this gift." Phyllis (USA)

Thank you so much Phyllis for sending me the photo and your wonderful e-mail.  It really lifts my heart when I see them all, each one so happy with their very own special dolly!  This is even more special to me as I taught Art in a Mission School in India to children before I went off to University.  It was an amazing time but also a sad time, to see so many with so little, and the struggles they had to face at such a very young age.   Thank you again for making their childhood that bit more cuddly xxx
